Dr Skalkos prior academic experience includes an assistant professor’s position at the University of Toledo, Ohio, USA, and a similar temporary position (under law N. 407/80) at the University of Ioannina, Greece.. He has contributed to the foundation of the Business Innovation Center of Epirus, in Greece, and has been its first managing director.  He has also worked as a business consultant in various tasks, in more than 20 national (Greek),a nd international companies mainly of the food sector.  Dr. Skalkos has also worked as project manager in different EU funding developing projects aiming at the promotion of innovation at the regional level, the implementation of innovative pilot actions, the development of innovative products, and the development of related spin off companies at the Greek regional level (i.e. RITTS, RIS, Innovative action programs etc.).
